Wyndeham Group News > Wyndeham Proposes Pre-Press Move to London and Expansion of Masterpiece
18th January 2007
The Wyndeham Press Group announced today a proposal to transfer the publishing pre-press work from its Bow site in east London to a consolidated facility in central London, and to open a new larger studio facility to accommodate the expanding photographic production agency Masterpiece.
Under the proposal, which is subject to consultation with the workforce, the pre-press businesses of Wyndeham Graphics, Wyndeham Icon and Wyndeham Argent would be consolidated into a single location in Paul Street, London and amalgamated under the umbrella brand of Wyndeham Pre-Press. The move would allow all of Wyndeham’s pre-press work to be concentrated into a single specialist publishing facility with dedicated production departments for Wyndeham’s publishing clients, together with enhanced facilities for art-working, colour management, creative retouching and proofing. All the on-line services would be centralised at the new site including “Emagine” Wyndeham’s next generation publishing system.
Masterpiece the creative production agency focuses primarily on catalogue, mail order and commercial work. Under the proposal Masterpiece would also move from Bow into a new facility enabling Masterpiece to significantly expand its operation. The proposed site includes a 2500sqft digital photographic studio, dedicated swatch matching and creative retouching suites, creative design, art-working and much larger client service areas.
Commenting on today’s proposal Barry Fitzpatrick, Managing Director, Wyndeham Pre-Press said:
“We are committed to strengthening our positions in the publishing and catalogue sectors and the proposed move will enable us to create two distinctive brands: Wyndeham Pre-Press and Masterpiece. By establishing a dedicated publishing pre-press operation under one roof in central London we will be able to create a collective of the best skills and technology, as well as being located much more centrally for our publishing clients.”
“In addition, Masterpiece has achieved significant growth over the last couple of years and we have simply outgrown our current facilities. A move into central London presents an exciting opportunity. We will be able to offer a truly creative, end-to-end service for our catalogue and commercial clients with the ability to photograph, design, swatch match and process projects through to final product – our team of creative digital designers can service our commercial clients from a single location and the bigger studio will enable our catalogue clients not only to continue capturing fashion items but also larger household goods,” said Fitzpatrick.
Wyndeham is now entering into consultation with its employees regarding the proposed changes and should the proposal be accepted the current site at Bow would close.
