Wyndeham Group News > Wyndeham Kestrel Staff Attempt 1000 mile Cycle Ride for Leukaemia Research
9th March 2007
Two of Wyndeham Kestrel’s employees are planning to cycle from Lands End to John O’Groats on a “Le2Jog tour” this Easter. Starting on 5th April they plan to complete the 1000 mile trip in 10 days, raising money for the Leukaemia Research Foundation.
Adam Lovick, 32, and Stuart Taylor, 40, from Wyndeham Kestrel in Witham, Essex, work in the Originations Department as Repro operators for Kestrel’s roster of packaging clients. Adam Lovick, a keen cyclist, developed the idea for the mammoth cycle ride after a close family member died of Leukaemia a year ago. His colleague Stuart Taylor has only begun cycling seriously in the last 12 months and after many training sessions, and a lot of persuasion from Adam, has decided to join him on the tour. “We’ve done a one off trip of 100 miles in our training so far, but it’s going to take a lot of stamina to do this back to back for ten days,” said Stuart.
With a route that avoids the busy main roads for their own safety, Adam and Stuart estimate cycling around 100 miles a day. They will be completely self sufficient carrying all their own cooking equipment and camping each night. “It really is the holy grail of riding, from one end of your home country to another, and with a great charity to raise money for and the memory of a close friend – this will spur us on throughout,” said Adam.
