Wyndeham Group News > Wyndeham Gait Awarded Environmental Management Standard
17th February 2005
Wyndeham Press Group Plc, a technology-leader in the UK specialist magazine, commercial literature and direct mail print markets, today announced that Wyndeham Gait, a specialist B1 sheet-fed printer in Grimsby, has been awarded the IS0 14001 environmental management standard.
ISO 14001 establishes a coordinated framework of controls to manage environmental protection in an organisation, and the accreditation process took approximately two years. Wyndeham Gait was required to demonstrate its commitment to saving resources, waste and preventing environmental pollution, while complying with the relevant environmental legislation.
The project team headed by production director, Dan Dean, examined Wyndeham Gait’s premises, manufacturing operations and waste output and completely reengineered many processes. These included keeping a minimum of press room chemicals in a property constructed and ventilated store, and the measurement and reduction of waste from all production processes.
“Our clients are now assured that we have environmentally friendly processes across all aspects of our business,” said Dan Dean. “Because we are cutting down on waste and materials, it means that production is as lean as possible, allowing us to offer the best prices to our customers.”
“Wyndeham Gait is the first company in the Group to reach the standard,” added Roy Kingston, Group Operations Director. “This is part of an ongoing process in which we are working with the BPIF on a programme of environmental best practice.”
