Wyndeham Announces Proposal to Reduce Staffing levels at Wyndeham Impact

18th August 2006

Wyndeham Press Group today entered into consultation with its Wyndeham Impact web-offset business in Basingstoke with a proposal to cut the 146 strong workforce to 80. The site is currently loss making due to over capacity and further downward pressure on prices and the group believe that by reducing the significant overstaffing the site has a more realistic chance of long-term survival.

It plans, subject to consultation with staff, to transfer a M600 printing press to Wyndeham Heron in Maldon where it will also produce covers for customers who have stressed a desire for producing text and cover work under one roof.

Roy Kingston, Chief Operating Officer for the Group said, “The web offset sector continues to come under pressure and we need to make a proper financial return from our businesses that serve this market. This latest proposal serves two purposes in that it gives the remaining workforce at Wyndeham Impact an opportunity for business continuity and in doing so allows us to provide customers who so desire to produce their complete magazines at Wyndeham Heron.”
