New Managing Director for Wyndeham Heron

27th September 2005

The Wyndeham Press Group is pleased to announce the appointment of Jim Algar to the position of Managing Director of Wyndeham Heron Ltd. Jim will succeed Richard Heron who will retire from the business at the end of March 2006. Richard will retain his main Board responsibilities during this period.

Richard Heron, aged 66, became managing director of ET Heron and Co in 1968 and following the acquisition of ET Heron by the Wyndeham Press Group in 1996, was appointed to the Wyndeham Board. Under his leadership Wyndeham Heron has grown to become one of the largest magazine and catalogue printers in the UK, and has recently installed a second 64pp Lithoman press as part of Wyndeham’s continued investment and expansion of the site.

Jim Algar joined Wyndeham Heron in August 2005 from Polestar Colchester where he was Managing Director. Jim will take over the immediate responsibility for the running of Wyndeham Heron and will be supported by Richard in appropriate areas as necessary.

“Wyndeham Heron is a key site for the Wyndeham Press Group where we have invested over £60 million in the last 5 years, therefore it is important that the succession plan is carefully managed,” said Paul Utting, Chief Executive, Wyndeham Press Group. “We are confident that Jim Algar, supported by his management team, will continue the successful development of Wyndeham Heron, maintaining the position established by Richard as one of the country's foremost web offset houses.”
