Wyndeham Group News > Marathon Runner for Wyndeham Grange
31st March 2008
Paddy, 37, who works as Production Manager at Wyndeham Grange will be running to raise funds for St John Ambulance and has set a target of £1,250. He plans to complete the 26.2 miles in less than four hours.
St John’s member’s duties include providing first aid cover at public events ranging from premiership football matches to local school fetes. They are also responsible for training first aiders in the work place (Wyndeham Grange included), as well as running a drop in centre for homeless people in Brighton. A large number of volunteers act as first responders whereby they attend incidents before an ambulance or paramedic can arrive, often saving lives!
Despite working with the NHS they receive no funding from them. All their funds come through donations from the public.
‘‘My painful four hours in London could help save lives so any help you could give would be very gratefully received and if you happen to be in London on the 13th please lend your support to me and all the runners.’’ said Paddy.
We would like to wish Paddy best of luck in the Flora London Marathon which takes place on 13th April. If you wish to sponsor Paddy in reaching his target please visit www.justgiving.com/paddyoreilly where you can donate securely.
