IPC Media Awards Major Printing Contract to Wyndeham Group

Wyndeham Group announces that IPC Media has selected Wyndeham as the principal print supplier for its Southbank division and awarded a range of other titles to the Group following the recent tender process. The three year contract which commences in July 2010, includes the renewal of the existing titles produced by Wyndeham Group, and reconfirms Wyndeham’s position as the second largest supplier of web offset printed products in the UK.

The contract consists of 45 of IPC’s most prestigious, market leading publications including monthly titles such as Southbank’s Marie Claire, InStyle, Ideal Home, Livingetc and Wallpaper. The deal also includes publications from IPC Inspire and IPC Connect including NME, Look and TV & Satellite Week, and a number of bi-monthlies. The work will be produced across the Group’s two web offset plants, Heron in Maldon, Essex, and Southernprint in Poole, Dorset.  Impact, the Group’s specialist cover printer in Basingstoke, and a long established cover printing partner of IPC, retains the contract to produce all the covers included in the tender.

Jasper Scott, Manufacturing Director, IPC Media said: “When we first put the magazines out to tender we had two interesting proposals from Wyndeham and Southernprint. Whilst both these were attractive, the merging of the two companies has created a major magazine printing group that presented a real, credible alternative for IPC in terms of the scale of its operation and the people involved.”

Charlie Meredith, Managing Director, IPC Central Operations added: “I’m delighted that we have been able to complete this tender process and award the business to Wyndeham, which offers a strong and thoroughly modern portfolio of print solutions that best suit our titles moving forward.”

Paul Utting, Chief Executive, Wyndeham Group said: “The decision by IPC Media to move these titles to Wyndeham demonstrates the strength of our offering, and the compelling range of integrated, end-to-end production solutions for the magazine publishing industry. This contract provides a solid foundation for the Group’s future development and is a big vote of confidence on the plans we have for the business.”
