News > Filming of National Trust Magazine at Wyndeham Southernprint
25 September 2017
Wyndeham Southernprint was recently delighted to host the National Trust editorial team to film its magazine on press, as a part of a special campaign to promote the autumn issue.
National Trust Magazine is the Trust’s 'thank you’ to all its members. Sent three times a year, it is packed full of behind-the-scenes information that helps them connect with the Trust and get the most out of their membership.
The National Trust has a long-standing relationship with the Wyndeham Group and the magazine is printed by Southernprint, one of the group’s web-offset sites in Poole, Dorset, The editorial team decided to film production of the magazine in order to demonstrate to members the work involved in printing, binding and distributing a magazine of this magnitude. With a total print run of 2.3 million copies, it takes Southernprint approximately three days to print, perfect-bind and trim the title, with a further three weeks to distribute the magazine to members.
Katy Blanchard, Assistant Editor, National Trust Magazine, said:
“It was fascinating to learn more about the print process at Wyndeham and just what goes in to printing 2.3 million magazines. The scale of the operation was so impressive and thought-provoking that we felt sharing a snapshot of this with our members could really help generate excitement ahead of the next issue arriving on their doormats.”
The National Trust subsequently created a cross-media campaign including Instagram and Twitter to promote the video, with high levels of engagement reported. The video can be viewed via Instagram or Twitter.
